After five years of rallying New York’s most talented singers for contributions to A Holiday Benefit, Benjamin Wagner decided that he would end the project before the interest tapered off.

The fifth installment, like it’s predecessors, features a solid mix of holiday classics and originals. There are some artists that have offered up tracks for all five editions, while others, like “American Idol” contestant Caleb Hawley, debut with the latest, and last compilation. After listening to any of the tracks, you’ll soon realize that this isn’t your typical holiday album. The songs rock, but more importantly, so does the cause that they benefit.

Proceeds from A Holiday Benefit are donated to 826NYC, the local chapter of 826 National, a nonprofit organization that assists students ages six to eighteen with their creative writing skills. Last year the organization’s tutoring centers — also located in Ann Arbor, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle and Washington, DC — served over 29,000 students.
