TMZ, Perez Hilton Pick Up ‘Ralphie Show’ Interview with Ke$ha

As first reported by “The Ralphie Show,” Ke$ha contradicted herself on Twitter when she claimed that she was “forced” to sing the lyrics of “Die Young.” The singer/songwriter took most of the credit for writing the song in an interview last month while in studio to promote her new album.

Last Thursday, the artist may have been forced to do something else: issue a statement explaining herself. The day after her now-deleted tweet, TMZ ran a story with a clip of Ke$ha’s interview from “The Ralphie Show.” The story was subsequently picked up by Perez Hilton, the UK’s Daily Mail, Newsday, and hundreds of other outlets across the world.

On her official website, the singer clarified her comments.

“After such a tragic event I was feeling a lot of emotion and sadness when I said I was forced to sing some of the lyrics to Die Young,” she wrote. “Forced is not the right word. I did have some concerns about the phrase “die young” in the chorus when we were writing the lyrics especially because so many of my fans are young and that’s one reason why I wrote so many versions of this song. But the point of the song is the importance of living every day to the fullest and staying young at heart, and these are things I truly believe.”
