EXCLUSIVE: Jesse McCartney Announces LP Will Drop Early 2011, Reveals Tyga Collab

Jesse McCartney is returning to the formula that made his last album, Departure, so successful. In an interview on “The Ralphie Radio Show” – McCartney noted that he hoped to bridge the gap between the 2008 R&B influenced LP and his next project. The singer revealed that tentative plans are to release his fourth album, which is still untitled, in early 2011.

“It’s just where my heart is man. I love rhythmic music, I grew up listening to R&B and soul music and I feel like as an artist, that’s what I’m best at,” McCartney said. “At the age of 23 now, I really feel like I’m coming in to my own now in that world.”

As he steps out in a more urban direction, he’s begun to work with not only talented songwriters and producers of the genre, but artists as well. Ludacris and T-Pain made cameos on the last project, and McCartney revealed one feature already solidified for the new album.

“I was in the studio a couple months ago and I was working with Sean Garrett, and he just signed with Young Money as an artist and as a writer,” said McCartney, who brought up the idea of working with Tyga after hearing a mix-tape the emcee did with Chris Brown. “(Garrett) called (Tyga) right there on the spot and put him on speakerphone and goes, ‘Hey man, what do you think of Jesse McCartney?’ (Tyga’s) like, ‘Yeah man, I like his music, I mess with his stuff.’ The next week he came to the studio and put 16 bars on this one record called, ‘I Don’t Normally Do This.’”

The other confirmed track for the forthcoming album is the first single, “Shake”, which is available on iTunes now.

Beluga Heights/Warner Bros. recording artist Auburn performed for 97 BHT listeners inside Club HD at Evolution inside The Woodlands on Thursday, September 16.

EXCLUSIVE: Auburn Kills Rumor, Reveals Funny Nickname for J.R. Rotem

J.R. Rotem signed Minnesota-native Auburn well before the producer discovered the likes of Jason Derulo and Iyaz. The “La La La” singer and Rotem go way back – so it shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise that she has a special nickname for him.

“That’s ‘Cookie!’” exclaimed Auburn, referring to Rotem. “There’s this place in Hollywood where they have the best cookies, and they’re called DeLuscious Cookies. The average person can only eat one, or a half of one. J.R. ate like six!”

Download the interview

Auburn credited Rotem’s diet with the reason why he devoured so many – as she claims he’s a very healthy eater most of the time, so this was his one chance to splurge.

The singer didn’t just talk about food though – she also revealed that Rotem will executive producer her LP. The album is still untitled, and could be released as early as December. First though, a tour with Beluga Heights tour mate Jason Derulo is on the docket.

“Someone ‘tweeted’ me today and said, ‘Is it true that you and Jason Derulo date?’ No!” Auburn emphatically denied, border-line disgusted by the thought. “Those questions are really weird; it feels like incest to me.”

This is Auburn’s first proper tour – she opened for Keyshia Cole before signing a record deal. The trek with Derulo begins in Philadelphia on September 27.

EXCLUSIVE: Joel and Benji Reveal New Good Charlotte LP ‘Over 50% Done’ Before Restarting

“I had been in the studio from noon to midnight for two months straight, working on that,” revealed Joel Madden of exactly how much he poured in to the first version of Good Charlotte’s new album Cardiology. “(It was) about half way (done)… maybe a little more.”

But the band didn’t agree with the “single-driven” approach of producer Howard Benson – so the group stopped, scratched everything recorded, and started fresh with Don Gilmore. This pushed back the release of the LP to November 2. The first single, “Like It’s Her Birthday” is currently gaining airplay on radio stations across the country.

The Madden brothers talked about the lead single as well as the song “Sex on the Radio” off the album, which drops November 2.

“There’s a few birthdays I don’t remember, and there’s an album cycle I completely… just doesn’t register,” joked Benji Madden… or at least, I thought he was kidding. “The third record (The Chronicles of Life and Death), I really can’t make out much.”

You might assume that the harder partying days are behind the Madden brothers – especially for Joel – who is now the father of two children and engaged to Nicole Richie. The lead singer also campaigned for Barack Obama during his 2008 Presidential bid. The Madden’s are from Maryland, but Joel’s work didn’t earn them any special trips to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

“I feel like everyone in Maryland knows somebody that works with somebody that works with the White House,” noted Joel, dismissing the notion that he should receive any type of special treatment. “It could probably happen with some work… I was definitely a big supporter of President Obama, and still am, but that was truly just because I believed in it.”

VIDEO: White Carpet Arrivals at 2010 MTV VMAs

Celebrities of all colors… white, black, tan, and orange walked the White Carpet of the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday. Yours truly was the only reporter from Northeastern PA to fly out and cover the event at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles.

Paul Delvecchio, a.k.a. “DJ Pauly D” from MTV’s “Jersey Shore” – wasn’t as orange as some of his Shore co-stars, namely “Snooki” and “JWoww.” “The Ralphie Radio Show” also airs in Providence, RI on the station he grew up listening to – 92 PRO-FM. As TMZ reported earlier in the week, Pauly did purchase a brand new 2011 Mercedes Benz, and he told me that he’ll be driving it around the Ocean State pretty soon. Makes sense considering a source close to the reality show revealed to me that the cast has already wrapped shooting for season 3.

Jay Sean is just beginning a promo run to showcase his new song “2012 (It Ain’t The End)” featuring Nicki Minaj. That trek will bring him to the Scranton Hardware Bar on October 2 to perform for BHT listeners. The Cash Money All-Star revealed the on the carpet to me that he’s been keeping in touch with an incarcerated Lil Wayne through label CEO Bryan “Birdman” Williams.

“I’m going to see him when he comes out, “said Jay. Weezy will be freed in about 60 days. “I’ve heard that he’s good and he’s excited about coming out.”

Craig Robinson, better known as “Darryl Philbin” from NBC’s “The Office” was less enthused about a different departure – the exit of Steve Carrell from Dunder Mifflin after the show’s seventh season.

“It’s impossible, impossible right?” he questioned of “Michael Scott” leaving. “Let’s see what happens, let’s see if we can just right the ship.”

Robinson also noted that he hopes “The Office Convention” returns soon, even asking if Chris Doherty was still the Mayor of Scranton.

She showed up much later than expected, but Ke$ha still made a grand entrance to the white carpet on Sunday, quickly walking through so she could make it to her seat by Katy Perry for Eminem’s opening performance with Rihanna. While not fielding any questions from other media outlets – she did answer one for “The Ralphie Radio Show” – who keeps the coveted Moonman statue if 3OH!3 and Ke$ha win best collaboration for the “My First Kiss” music video?

“Oh, I will,” she said without hesitation. “I wear the balls in the relationship.”

Dane Cook wasn’t as lucky… no this has nothing to do with any of his body parts. He missed Eminem’s performance because he didn’t make it to his seat by the cut off. Was that because after the carpet closed, he stopped for a few words with me? I’d like to think not, but I’ll let you be the judge.

“I’m in the lab down here at the Laugh Factory in L.A., I have a new special that I’m going to do next year, but a greatest hits (album) this year,” Cook revealed – with the compilation slated for a November release.

Also making some time for “The RRS” on the white carpet – Sean Kingston, who I introduced to waiting Cascada, Deadmau5, who served as the VMAs House DJ, and Chelsea Handler’s sidekick Chuy Bravo – who became quite annoyed when I asked him why he hasn’t responded to a Facebook friend request of mine.

EXCLUSIVE: K’naan Surprised at Reaction of Twitter Apology, Still Seeking ‘Excitement’

Download the interview

International artist K’naan called in to “The Ralphie Radio Show” to chat about his new single, “Bang Bang”, which feature’s Maroon 5’s Adam Levine on the hook. The Somalian-born musician also spoke about a recent set of Twitter updates where he apologized for “going through the motions” on stage at an event in Dublin. K’naan was surprised that even legitimate news outlets printed his tweets, which he revealed were literally sent moments after leaving the stage.

But, the singer is looking forward to his fall tour in the U.S., admitting on “The RRS” that he believes the trek could get him “some excitement again.”

“Bang Bang” is off K’nann’s album Troubadour, available now.

EXCLUSIVE: B.o.B Hints at Train Collab; Previews VMA Performance

That might not be an airplane in the night sky you see Sunday during the MTV Video Music Awards. Actually, it could just be B.o.B himself shooting through the air.

“I’m still waiting to hear back about my space boots that I’m supposed to be wearing,” revealed the “Nothin’ On You” emcee during an interview on “The Ralphie Radio Show.” “Basically, (the space boots) flip the polarization of whatever you’re standing on so that you actually float.”

B.o.B was unsure if he’d have them in time for Sunday, but joked that if he did, he would wear nothing but those on stage. It’s fitting that he’s attempting to wear space boots, given that he’s nominated to win five “Moon Men” at Sunday’s VMAs.

Certainly the rapper doesn’t need astronaut shoes to feel he’s on “Cloud 9” these days. With a number one album and a handful of big hits spawning from it, 2010 has been good to B.o.B. The success is only yielding more opportunities, one of which could make for an interesting collaboration with the band Train.

“We actually did a few shows together, and I really got to learn a lot about just everything that I’m in and everything that I’m doing because Train, they had a really big hit also like, a few years back. So for them, this is like, round two,” he explained. “I learned a lot from them so; hopefully… you never know… something could emerge!”

The emcee revealed him and Train’s Pat Monahan “have definitely talked” about teaming up in the studio – now it’s just a matter of finding time. B.o.B believes that “once the dust settles” on their current schedules, the two will work something out.

EXCLUSIVE: Iyaz Still Working On U.S. Album, No Release Date Set

Download the interview

Iyaz talked about a couple songs he’s featured on – namely Auburn’s “La La La” and New Boyz’s “Break My Bank”, but dropped an update about his album on “The Ralphie Radio Show.”

Replay will have a subtitle according to Iyaz, and he hopes to release the LP before the end of November.
