Taylor Hanson is well-aware of “Bieber Fever” and the comparisons that some are making between the ways in which both Hanson and Justin Bieber have invigorated the same demographic in different eras of music.
“The comparison is fair considering the audience,” said Hanson, who called in to “The Ralphie Radio Show” on Wednesday. “I think it’s a compliment to be referenced for sure, because clearly he’s, I mean, he’s blowing up.”
The brothers from Tulsa, OK aren’t doing to bad themselves. Hard to believe it’s been 13 years since Middle of Nowhere, which spawned the infectious “MMMBop” and “Where’s The Love?” Hanson released Shout It Out last month, and are currently touring in support of the album and it’s first single, “Thinkin ‘Bout Something”, which certainly marks an evolution in the band’s sound. — Download the interview
“Thinking ‘Bout Something” was featured as the Daily Download.
— “You always have to be excited about what you’re doing and I think that turns in to evolution,” remarked Taylor. “In a way this record is a leap forward, but it’s also a homage to what we’ve come from.”
As the cliché goes, “You don’t know where you’re going until you know where you’ve been.” The Hanson brothers seem quite aware of their background. Taylor made it perfectly clear during the interview – they know where their headed – and in no way is it away from the music scene, as he says they will continue to write, record, and tour amidst growing older with their fans.
In an interview which aired Thursday on “The Ralphie Radio Show”, singer Iyaz confirmed another collaboration with Miley Cyrus, and this time it’ll be a project that you can not only hear, but see as well.
“I’m actually on an episode of ‘Hannah Montana’ that’s coming out in August,” the Island-pop star revealed. “I’ve been watching the show for the past two, three years and I’m definitely happy that I can be a part of it.”
The singer first linked up with Cyrus behind the microphone, telling me last March that he worked on a song with Miley for the new “Hannah Montana” soundtrack, which will coincide with the final season. The series launches in to its last run of episodes on July 11. Iyaz will now also appear alongside Cyrus. — Download the interview
— The British Virgin Islands-born star is keeping busy these days, and is no stranger to teaming up with the youngin’s. Iyaz partnered with Charice for the song “Pyramid,” which he also performed with the singer live on “The Oprah Winfrey Show.” This summer, he joins up with fellow T.I.M.E. artist Sean Kingston on Jusitn Bieber’s “My World” tour.
“I think so, I think I am going to be on the second (leg of the tour),” said Iyaz of the prospects of traveling with Bieber through the winter, when the tour hits larger U.S. arenas. “We’re trying to get everything finalized so hopefully I am.”
Last weekend, Soulja Boy Tell ‘Em’s Twitter account disappeared and then reappeared. Now it seems his first headlining tour is gone, with no word if it will also resurface. “Just got (the) text tour is cancelled,” DJ Woogie, one of Soulja Boy’s mixtape DJs, tweeted to his followers on Wednesday. The day before Woogie typed, “NI***S F***ED ME UP WITH THIS TOUR I MISSED HELLA SHOW DOE SINCE JUNE 19TH (till) NOW!!!”
On a list of tour dates obtained by “The Ralphie Radio Show”, the “Youngest N Charge” Tour was originally slated to begin June 17 in Dallas. The trek would feature headliner Soulja Boy along with his S.O.D.M.G. crew, rapper Hurricane Chris and R&B singer Sammie, who sang the hook of S-Beezy’s hit, “Kiss Me Thru The Phone.” “This summer Soulja Boy hittin’ his first headlining tour,” said fellow SOD Money Gang artist JBar on “The Ralphie Radio Show” last April. “They gettin’ the other acts together right now… I heard Drake, that’s the only name I’ve heard so far.”
Soulja Boy and his camp have not talked publicly about the ill-fated tour. The rapper recently performed “Pretty Boy Swag” at the BET Awards Pre-Show. The track appears to be the first single from his third LP Dre, slated for a July 28 release. The album will also feature collaborations with KanYe West and Justin Bieber.

She was introduced to Justin Bieber initially by “Kidd Kraddick In The Morning” on 97 BHT. Little did 14 year-old Alex Buchinski know that she would later be introduced to Justin, literally, by his manager Scooter Braun.
This isn’t your average meet-and-greet tale.
Buchinski is a 97 BHT listener and Archbald, Pa. resident. Like many of her peers, she loves “The Bieber.” Matter of fact, she wasn’t satisfied by just professing her admiration by missing two days of school to see Justin perform inside The Mall at Steamtown. Nor did winning passes to check out Bieber on “Good Morning America” satisfy her, um, sorry – Bieber Fever.
Nope, instead Alex wanted to see her favorite artist on “Saturday Night Live.” Step one: take to Twitter.
“I was just sending (links, comments) out there, like I didn’t send it to ‘Saturday Night Live’ or NBC or anyone like that,” explained Buchinski on “The Ralphie Radio Show” – a radio show that Bieber has been interviewed on twice. “I was just sending it out there, trying to get more followers to support the idea, and it worked.”
In no time, Buchinski found herself in the center of a viral marketing campaign to land Bieber on “SNL.” Alex’s account, “BieberOnSNL”, has close to 10,000 followers. Bieber himself has “at replied” – or mentioned Alex’s name in a Twitter update, on three different occasions. Yet, Buchinski still has no idea how Bieber or his team figured out that she was one of the forces behind it. — Download the interview
— “He ‘tweeted’ me back, like 6, 7 weeks ago, saying that he was going to be on ‘Saturday Night Live’ April 10,” she said. “I don’t know how he found out that I helped him.”
But Justin did, and offered Alex four VIP tickets to check out his performance the following afternoon. Bieber taped an edition of “Walmart Soundcheck” at the Highland Ballroom in New York City. The teenager made the trip to the concrete jungle with her parents and younger sister. Her father, Chris, didn’t know what to expect when he arrived. But upon stepping foot in the front door of the venue, the dad was immediately taken aback.
“We went out there, and I thought it was gonna be just a run-of-the-mill kind of thing,” Mr. Buchinski admitted. “But I went to the door and I said ‘I’m looking for Scooter.’ He was right there, and he took me right in.”
Bieber’s manager immediately handed over wristbands for VIP access for the family of four. Then, Braun took them all backstage, to meet Justin and the band in their dressing room.
“It was phenomenal,” Alex’s dad said. “(Braun) was really, unbelievable. He even gave me his e-mail address to keep in touch; I mean he was a fabulous guy.”
But the VIP experience didn’t end there. During the taping, Bieber performed “One Less Lonely Girl.” Let’s just say, the only girl that did not feel lonely in the crowd was Alex, who spent the duration of the song literally just a few feet away from the pint-sized pop star.
“He sang ‘One Less Lonely Girl’ to me on stage, in front of like, hundreds of screaming girls,” recalled Buchinski. “It was just amazing.”
“Walmart Soundcheck” featuring Justin Bieber will premiere on May 15 online and throughout Walmart stores across the country.
14 year-old Alex Buchinski created a Twitter account called “BieberOnSNL.” The Archbald, Pa. native helped teen star Justin Bieber land on “Saturday Night Live.” Bieber repaid Alex by giving her four tickets to his private performance the next day for Walmart Soundcheck. She shared her story on “The RRS.” The full interview will air Tuesday at 7 p.m.

In an interview on “The Ralphie Radio Show,” Iyaz revealed that he recently collaborated with Miley Cyrus in-studio. “No, that was for her’s,” replied the singer, real name Keidran Jones, when asked if the track would be featured on his forthcoming album. Reprise Records’ Tommy Page confirmed that Iyaz’s debut LP, My Life, will hit stores April 27. The first single, “Replay” – not only topped the charts, but scored the Virgin Islands pop star some free product from Apple.
“They gave me some small little Shuffles that said, ‘Stuck On Replay’ on the back,” Iyaz divulged. On the hook of “Replay”, the crooner likens his unwavering love for a girl to his iPod being stuck on replay. “‘Replay’… all of my songs, if not most of ‘em, are based on true stories.” — Download the mp3
— This also holds true with Iyaz’s latest single, “Solo,” – yes, he’s an eligible bachelor. The song samples Janet Jackson’s 1993 smash, “Again.” In a prior interview on “The RRS”, producer J.R. Rotem remarked that he breathed a sigh of relief when the sample cleared, as the song leaked on to YouTube before clearance. Although Iyaz eventually sent the link out to his followers on Twitter, he denies actually posting the track.
“I was in Vegas… I went on my Twitter, and somebody posted, “Man, I just heard ‘Solo’ on the radio,” recalled Iyaz. “So, you know me. I went straight to YouTube, and there it is. I was like, ‘Wow!’ And I didn’t have it (yet).”
The singer said that a similar situation occurred with “Replay.” Surely Iyaz hopes the entire situation will rewind and playback – producing yet another number one hit for the twenty-one year old artist.
