EXCLUSIVE: B.O.B Comments On Cudi Comparisons, Says T.I. Has ‘A Lot Of Motivation’

T.I. is recording material for a new album, and according to one artist he collaborated with, is in good spirits as he prepares new tracks for his forthcoming LP.

“Oh yeah, he’s definitely got a lot to prove,” remarked B.O.B. The Atlanta emcee is signed to T.I.’s Grand Hustle label, distributed by Atlantic. “(He has) a lot of motivation.”

Authorities released the “Live Your Life” rapper from prison to a halfway house last December. T.I., real name Clifford Harris, is permitted to leave the house on weekdays for work purposes, but must return by evening. Jim Jonsin, who has produced a plethora of hits, including “Whatever You Like”, is also confirmed to be working on the project. T.I. will leave the halfway house on March 26.

On Monday, after the interview with B.O.B, T.I.P made his first public appearance, at a charity event organized by his fiancée, Tameka “Tiny” Cottle. He also created a Twitter account. Already “Verified”, there is only one tweet from username “Tip”, a tease for a “major announcement” coming next Monday at T.I.’s website, trapmuzik.com, with the hash tag “#kingsback.”

“We actually got in the studio recently, recorded a track for his album,” B.O.B said on working with the head of his label. Although later he clarified that the song may not appear on T.I.’s album, but will see the light of day in some form or fashion.

B.O.B’s LP, B.O.B Presents: The Adventures of Bobby Ray, hits stores on April 27 – actually pushed up from an original May release date due to the success of the single, “Nothin’ On You”, which features Bruno Mars. The emcee is currently on tour with Lupe Fiasco.

RRS EXCLUSIVE: Kid Cudi Apologizes To Vancouver Student He Punched

In an interview on “The Ralphie Radio Show”, 20 year-old Michael Sharpe says Kid Cudi reached out to him and apologized for punching the college student at a show over two months ago in Vancouver.

The original incident stemmed from a concert on December 11 of last year in Canada. Cudi played two events that night – as main support for Lady GaGa’s Monster Ball Tour and a solo set at another venue. At the second performance, a fan threw a wallet on stage, at the emcee. Cudder sent the wallet back in to the crowd. Moments later, footage on YouTube shows Sharpe toss the wallet back on stage. He caught the pass from Cudi, felt back keeping the wallet, and gave it back. Immediately after, Cudi removed his in-ear monitors, hopped off the stage, and punched Sharpe in the face.

Last week, Sharpe was back in school from his home in the Philippines and studying in the library. Suddenly his phone rang; the number unknown. He picked up, only to find on the other end Kid Cudi’s manager. The person told Sharpe that within five minutes, Cudi himself would be calling. An hour passed, nothing.

Then, as Sharpe walked back from the library, his phone rang – a New York area number showed up on the caller ID.

“I’m just going insane, because I knew right off the bat it was Cudi,” Sharpe reminisced, calling in to “The RRS” from Vancouver after a late night of studying. “(Cudi) was just like, ‘What’s up? You’re a hard guy to get ahold of!’”

Truth be told – Sharpe waited, patiently, for a call from Cudi for over two months. The college student decided that he never wanted to be “that guy” and press charges, or try to gain extra fame and publicity from the incident. He simply wanted people to know the truth, and for Cuddder to apologize.

“We spoke for like, 20 minutes,” continued Sharpe. “Like, straight up, a conversation I’d have with one of my friends. He was just really cool.”

Before the phone chat finished, Cudi extended more than just an apology to the 20 year-old.

“He was like, ‘Oh, is it okay if I fly you off to New York one of these days?’” Sharpe recalled, excited and stunned even as he retold the story. “’Yeah, you know, I gotta get back at you. You were all cool about the situation… I gotta fly you out.’”

Sharpe told me talking to Cudi on the phone was big enough – the pending trip is surreal to him. The emcee is currently in Australia and working on his second LP, but hopes to finally meet Sharpe soon after.

And yes, Cudi’s departure from GaGa’s tour, a story first reported on “The RRS”, did come up during their conversation. Sharpe would not divulge what was said – simply stating that the Cleveland-born artist did mention that the combination of a new album, his solo dates, and GaGa’s tour took its toll from a stress standpoint.

EXCLUSIVE: Alleged Kid Cudi Punching Victim Says He Hasn’t Received An Apology

Michael Sharpe, the 19 year-old college student who says he received a haymaker from one of his favorite emcee’s, Kid Cudi, now says he still hasn’t received an apology.

Sharpe checked in from the Phillipines, where he’s home on winter break. Just five days ago, the college student thought he did the right thing by tossing a wallet that wasn’t his back on to Kid Cudi’s stage. Cudder took the gesture as an insult – video that surfaced online shows the rapper remove his ear monitors, jump off stage, and land a hard punch to the face of a fan, allegedly Sharpe. But after our 10 minute conversation Thursday, it seems that the fan’s feelings are hurt far more than his face.

Photo courtesy of TMZ. Video of the incident is below:
“Being home now, and talking about it with my family… it’s different,” Sharpe revealed in relation to his feelings on the incident. “Definitely, if he would have hurt me seriously, I’d be much more upset. I didn’t really think about that though until I came home.”
Sharpe also said he has been in touch with a man claiming to be Cudi’s manager. The person kept insisting that an apology would be forthcoming, however that seems less likely as the days pass.
“How busy can he be, that he can’t call me and apologize?” asked Sharpe. “If you punched someone at a bar, and you were sorry, wouldn’t you make it a point to call and apologize? I’m not even looking for anything, other than just an apology. I’m just a fan.”
It was in that vein that Sharpe sent his latest and thus far, last series of text messages to the rapper’s alleged manager. After hearing news that Kid Cudi would no longer be on tour with Lady GaGa, a story first reported by The RRS, Sharpe reached out to make sure everything was cool. The “manager” retorted with a defensive, press release-like statement, noting that Cudi pulled himself off the tour, and was not asked to leave.
“I was like, ‘Are you kidding me?’” recalled Sharpe. “Like, is he trying to make a statement through me? That was it for me.”

TMZ Cites RRS As First To Report On Cudi Tour Change

Big thank you to my good friends at TMZ, who linked to The Ralphie Radio Show blog in their report of news I broke today in regards to Kid Cudi’s departure from Lady GaGa’s “Monster Ball.” Despite my deletion of the story from the blog, TMZ still gave credit to The RRS, as we first reported the change.

The Ralphie Radio Show and TMZ have enjoyed a great partnership since the official launch of The RRS in August 2007. I’ve always preferred TMZ to other celebrity news blogs because they actually report – as in gathering sources, fact checking, breaking news, and creatively writing/distributing the facts. This simply reaffirms my beliefs, as TMZ did not have to link to the blog, but did because from a journalistic perspective, it was the right move.

EXCLUSIVE: Kid Cudi Off Of Lady GaGa Tour (Original Report)

Okay, before I get in to the story, let’s post this:

That is a screen shot of my blog earlier today with the story that I initially broke in regards to Kid Cudi. If you read the screen shot, you know the details of the story. A source at Interscope Records confirmed to me that Kid Cudi was no longer on Lady GaGa’s tour. They did not specify whether Cudi left or was asked to leave, but according to my source, this incident in Vancouver may have played a role.

The story posted to the blog at 2:25PM EST on December 16, 2009.

I posted the article and immediately distributed the link via e-mail, Facebook, & Twitter. It wasn’t long before both MTV and TMZ got wind. Next thing, Interscope received calls. Next thing, I received a call, and was asked to take it down. I was told that some type of official statement was forthcoming.
Please keep in mind, I did nothing wrong – I was never asked not to talk about the information I received, and all parties involved were aware that I was a radio show host. Nonetheless, I obliged. Essentially, I accomplished my mission: to break the story first.

When you report on a story, you have to put all personal feelings aside. Interscope Records has always, always treated me well. Interview with Lady GaGa, New Kids On The Block, Keri Hilson, Ryan Tedder… I could go on… all not possible without some level of cooperation from Interscope.

That being said, I value my relationship with the label a great deal, and therefore took the link down. It’s now back up in a different form – because clearly the story is out there, so whether it’s up on my blog is neither here nor there at this point. Kid Cudi released a statement. The storyline has come to a close.
Why repost? My good friends at TMZ linked to The RRS blog. I’m saving that story for a different post. Long story short, I didn’t want TMZ to look out of place for linking to my blog, considering the story was missing from it when the link was put up.
Tomorrow on The RRS… we’ll speak with Michael Sharpe, the student who was punched, and get his reaction to the incident.

EXCLUSIVE: David Guetta Prepares 3rd Single, Takes Cues From BEP, Akon

David Guetta may not be releasing One Love in the States until August 25, but that doesn’t mean the French DJ/Producer isn’t already thinking of future singles and possible re-releases of the LP.

“Okay, I give you exclusive,” Guetta said at the end of our interview last week. He called in to The Ralphie Radio Show from a French hotel. Towards the latter part of the conversation, Guetta revealed the existence of a track that will be the third single off of One Love. The song is “Gettin’ Over” – and the original features Chris Willis. The remix, to come later with a holiday re-release of the LP, will also include Fergie and Will.I.Am. of The Black Eyed Peas.

“The Peas were like, ‘Oh, you gotta give (‘Gettin’ Over’) to us.’ I’m like, ‘No, I need that one for my album,’” Guetta explained. “I saw Will again, and he was like, ‘Man this song is too good.’ So it’s Fergie, Chris Willis, and Will.I.Am., and this song is a bomb man!”

It wouldn’t be the first “bomb” created by Guetta and BEP – the man behind, “Love Is Gone” produced The Peas global smash, “I Gotta Feeling.”

“(BEP and I) first made two songs for The Black Eyed Peas album,” said Guetta, who also claims production credits on the track, “Rock That Body” from The E.N.D. “We had so much that we just kept making music even though the album was finished. I’m still making music with Will for nothing, just for fun.”

Part 1: “I Gotta Feeling”, Working w/ The Black Eyed Peas

Part 2: “Sexy Chick” f. Akon, One Love, Exclusive News Re: New BEP Track

Guetta parlayed his relationships with BEP and Kelly Rowland (vocals on “When Love Takes Over”) in to more cameos from American A-listers on his forthcoming LP. The Peas and Rowland told their friends about the producer, and then artists like Akon, Ne-Yo, and Kid Cudi approached Guetta for tracks. The Frenchman would always respond with a “yes”, on the condition that they appeared on his album as well. The result is a star-studded cast for One Love. Akon is featured on the LP’s second single, “Sexy B*tch.”

“What happened with Akon was not planned,” revealed Guetta. “We just met at a festival, and decided to make music on that night.”

Both were leaving from the show for their respective home countries in the morning. Guetta says that instead of going out to have a drink, they entered the studio, and left with a song that is already taking the global charts by storm. The record will also appear on Akon’s forthcoming album.

Much has come as a delightful surprise to Guetta during this summer-long run of chart-topping hits, but what didn’t was the changing of “Sexy B*tch” in the U.S. and U.K. to “Sexy Chick.” He even learned something thanks to Akon in the process.

“We had a discussion with the record company… and in the U.K., (bitch) is the most offensive word,” said Guetta. “Whereas in America… that’s what I’ve been told by Akon, like, a girl that takes care of herself and knows what she wants.”

Regardless, it’s what the people want: the song already reached the Top 10 in nine different countries, and is on the cusp of Top 20 in the U.S. Maybe taking language cues from Akon isn’t so bad afterall.

EXCLUSIVE: Kid Cudi comments on Kanye/South Park parody, changes CD title

Download the mp3

“Day ‘N Nite” rapper Kid Cudi calls up The Ralphie Radio Show to chat about his hit single, new CD, and KanYe West.

In an interview on, “The Ralphie Radio Show”, hip-hop artist Kid Cudi announced that the title of his album is now, Man On The Moon: The End of Day – a switch from Man On The Moon: The Guardian.

The Guardian concept was solely gonna be based around my features,” Cudi, real name Scott Ramon Seguro Mescudi, explained. “Bein’ that I changed it up so that I was gonna have less features, I wanted to change the story up so that it’d be more focused on me.”

Certainly this makes sense for the Cleveland-born emcee, whose major label debut LP drops August 25. Although, the amount of features might have remained the same, if it were not for both Lily Allen and Outkast’s Andre 3000 declining cameo requests. Cudi cited scheduling conflicts as the reason the artists would not be on the album. But, Kanye West’s protégé is “OK” with that – as the change in direction forces Cudi to center the CD on his own skills.

“It just made me realize that I should focus more on my writing, me putting together records, knowing that I have to show and prove.”

At least as far as writing – Kid’s already done just that – first by co-writing a top 5 hit for the aforementioned West in “Heartless”. Although he’s seen bits and pieces, Cudi did not watch the entire Kanye parody on South Park, complete with the track, “Gay Fish” – a take on “Heartless.”

“Every icon gets made fun of,” said Cudi. “Yunno, it was witty – okay, they thought it was witty, okay… you can’t necessarily beat yourself up about it.”
