Archives For apple

Jeremy and Samantha (Sammy) have been friends since middle school although they waited until after completing college at Yale and NYU respectively to form Marian Hill. The duo’s single “Down” is taking off after a placement in the new Apple commercial and they’ve also collaborated with Fifth Harmony’s Lauren Jauregui. They talked about those topics and much more when they stopped by my show recently.

In an interview on “Ralphie Tonight” that is scheduled to air Wednesday evening, Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz took aim at an Australian retailer for what he believes is a negligence on their part to value other people’s art.

“Music is just not important to them,” Wentz said initially, when the topic of the band’s most recent leaked album was brought up. American Beauty/American Psycho came out January 20 and as of press time, is slated to be the band’s third number one LP on the Billboard 200. The album hit the Internet early, and it is believed that is the fault of Australian retailer JB Hi-Fi. “The proof of it is, stuff like (leaked albums) is just, ‘Oh, we put it up by accident.’”

“They wouldn’t ‘oops’ the new iPhone for them, because it would be a nightmare for them.”

Fall Out Boy did trace its most recent leak to an Australian music streaming service. But for Wentz, the experiences have him rethinking the way the quartet will promote its music ahead of release dates.

“Maybe next time, the only people we go and work with are people who are in the business of caring about music,” he said. “It’s not a big deal; once it was out, it’s just like, ‘Let’s put out high quality versions ourselves.’”

And on that particular point, Wentz went out of his way to deliver a message for the band’s supporters.

“There is a misnomer out there that I’m upset with our fans for listening to the record when it was leaked. I’m not in any way upset with our fans about that at all,” he clarified. “That was never a bummer.”

But the situation of the leaked album and other struggles surrounding the release compelled Wentz to tweet, “If they keep f—ing around I might leak the rest of it myself.” He later deleted the post.

Led with this story tonight on the show… according to Goldman Sachs analyst Bill Shope, demand for the iPad is dropping as the holiday season approaches. With the economics of the country and the saturation of similar tablets at cheaper prices, Shope states that “price cuts have also been critical, and the iPad is overdue.”

A $100 cut in the iPad’s price isn’t out of the question – the only issue is whether it will happen before or after the holidays.

I mean, it’s “The Ralphie RADIO Show” – so why wouldn’t there be audio associated with the top 10 trending topics on Twitter in 2010? BTW, of the 25 billion tweets sent last year, those trends were…

1. Gulf Oil Spill
2. FIFA World Cup
3. Inception
4. Haiti Earthquake
5. Vuvuzela
6. Apple iPad
7. Google Android
8. Justin Bieber
9. Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows
10. Pulpo Paul

In an interview on “The Ralphie Radio Show,” Iyaz revealed that he recently collaborated with Miley Cyrus in-studio.

“No, that was for her’s,” replied the singer, real name Keidran Jones, when asked if the track would be featured on his forthcoming album. Reprise Records’ Tommy Page confirmed that Iyaz’s debut LP, My Life, will hit stores April 27. The first single, “Replay” – not only topped the charts, but scored the Virgin Islands pop star some free product from Apple.

“They gave me some small little Shuffles that said, ‘Stuck On Replay’ on the back,” Iyaz divulged. On the hook of “Replay”, the crooner likens his unwavering love for a girl to his iPod being stuck on replay. “‘Replay’… all of my songs, if not most of ‘em, are based on true stories.”

This also holds true with Iyaz’s latest single, “Solo,” – yes, he’s an eligible bachelor. The song samples Janet Jackson’s 1993 smash, “Again.” In a prior interview on “The RRS”, producer J.R. Rotem remarked that he breathed a sigh of relief when the sample cleared, as the song leaked on to YouTube before clearance. Although Iyaz eventually sent the link out to his followers on Twitter, he denies actually posting the track.

“I was in Vegas… I went on my Twitter, and somebody posted, “Man, I just heard ‘Solo’ on the radio,” recalled Iyaz. “So, you know me. I went straight to YouTube, and there it is. I was like, ‘Wow!’ And I didn’t have it (yet).”

The singer said that a similar situation occurred with “Replay.” Surely Iyaz hopes the entire situation will rewind and playback – producing yet another number one hit for the twenty-one year old artist.
