Breathe Carolina has played dates on Vans Warped Tour prior to this year. But the experience is completely different now that the band is not only playing main stage, but doing so with a platinum-selling single to its credit. The electro-duo from Colorado is rising to the occasion while adapting to the heat, more literally than figuratively.

“Our laptops that we have for the music set aren’t too bad,” David Schmitt said of the weather’s effect on the band’s equipment. “But we had video screens at the beginning of this tour, and we were in Las Vegas and it was so hot that the computers wouldn’t turn on, so we couldn’t use them.”

With the constant change in set times and tech set-ups, attempting to implement video screens is ambitious for any group, let alone one playing the main stage at Warped for its first time.

“We just wanted to push ourselves and kind of push everybody else that you can do it,” Kyle Even said. “But the reality of it is a lot crazier than I thought.”

Breathe Carolina will finish out the Warped Tour trek before breaking out those video screens again for a handful of festival dates in the U.S. and abroad. The band’s re-release of Hell Is What You Make It is in stores now.

On WBRE’s “PA Live!” for this week’s “The Ralphie Report,” I recapped my coverage of Vans Warped Tour and reported on the new entertainment venue that will be opening next year inside the expansion of Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs.

Another dance-infused track from the Colorado-duo, who will spend its summer on this year’s “Vans Warped Tour.”

The band’s new album is called Hell Is What You Make It. But Dave Schmitt and Kyle Even are living more dreams than nightmares these days as the group releases it’s lead single, “Blackout” to the masses.

Dave and Kyle checked in from BC’s headlining tour to talk about filming the new video for “Blackout” and meeting 3OH!3 – another electronic pop-rock duo that hails from Colorado.
