Deadmau5 Claims The Black Eyed Peas Aren’t Working on Their Own ‘Time’

Deadmau5 was careful not to “call The Black Eyed Peas out” – but used a number of descriptions and graphics on Facebook to compare the snare and kick of “The Time” with a remix he produced of Medina’s “You and I.”

The DJ didn’t look at the two tracks until fans on Twitter asked about the similarities. Deadmau5, real name Joel Zimmerman, posted graphics of the snare and kick graphics to his Facebook page, with his track as the top wavelength and “The Time” on the bottom.

This comes as The Peas ready to release The Beginning, which hits stores Tuesday.

Deadmau5 added that he enjoys “the minimal bit of the tune” and considers this case interesting given that it is another example of sampling use within electronic music, something that the producer claims is not only prevalent, but welcomed.
