Archives For The Biggest Loser

Controversy trailed season 13 of NBC’s reality competition “The Biggest Loser.” The conversation centered on winner Rachel Frederickson and the notion that perhaps she lost too much weight, sending a negative message towards young women. The methods that Frederickson used to shed the 155 pounds were also questioned.

Jillian Michaels did not work with Frederickson and thus has not commented on the stunning transformation. But the portrayal of Michaels and her future involvement with the show have also been topics of conversation.

“I don’t know yet,” Michaels said on “Ralphie Tonight,” in an interview that aired Monday night. Michaels had called in last week to promote her “Maximize Your Life” tour stop at the Beacon Theatre in New York. “In life there’s good and bad in everything and everyone. But ultimately at the end of the day I will always be grateful to that show because it has afforded me to connect on such an intimate level with so many people.”

Michaels also mentioned that her tour would not be possible without “Biggest Loser” but seemed to reference it in past tense.

“I’m thrilled to have been a part of it,” she continued. “You know I can’t say what the future holds right now. But as soon as there is news I will shout it from the mountaintops.”

There are two dates left on the “Maximize Your Life” tour. Michaels also recently wrapped up a cover shoot for Shape Magazine. To get herself in top shape for the shoot, the trainer partook in a regimen that shunned sugar and alcohol.

“I really enjoy working with (Shape),” she said. “They’re a great magazine and a really good partner to work with and I think we share the same kind of message of empowerment for women.”

It is a message that Michaels shared to audiences across the country on her tour; one she will surely continue to stump behind. But as to whether the trainer will be promoting that message on TV: stay tuned.
