TMZ reports that while on bended knee, Kris Humphries slid an engagement ring on to Kim Kardashian’s finger that is worth $2 million. In this day and age, is that too much to spend on a ring?

I spoke with Kardashian at an event in New York City last October. Jeweler Michael Hill picked the reality TV star to be the face of his search for the world’s best couple. The grand prize in the competition was a 22 CT diamond ring, which as you can see above, looked pretty good on Kardashian (she reportedly received a 20.5 CT piece from Humphries). I spoke with Kim about what she’d be looking for in a ring. Keep in mind, she was reportedly single at the time we talked: links to Gabriel Aubry began the following month and talks of the Nets basketball player began soon after.

No one knows if Kardashian had any say in the final size of the ring – perhaps Humphries took it upon himself to go big or go home – maybe even Kim’s sisters influenced him. But perhaps “nothing specific” is the new “as big as possible”?
