Coldplay is back and set to release its sixth album, Ghost Stories, on May 19. Last month the band premiered “Midnight” as a warm-up tune. Now, the UK quartet drops “Magic,” the first single. A download of the song is available by pre-ordering the LP on iTunes.

I stopped by WBRE’s “PA Live!” for my weekly segment, “The Ralphie Report.” This week, I recapped my Skype interview with MTV 2Ge+her’s Alex Solowitz about a possible reunion, played Coldplay’s cover of Rihanna’s “We Found Love,” and talked about Justin Bieber’s new number one album.

Simply, amazing.

I stopped by WBRE’s “PA Live!” for my weekly segment, “The Ralphie Report.” This week, I talked about Kim Kardashian’s divorce, including exclusive reaction from Dana Carvey. Plus, Kelly Clarkson’s latest album Stronger sold well, but could not top a great first week of sales from Coldplay’s new LP, Mylo Xyloto, on the charts.

I appear every Thursday on “PA Live!” – a new, daily show on WBRE that airs weekdays at 4 p.m. The show is co-hosted by Dave Kuharchik and Monica Madeja.

Here’s Chris Martin talking to Rolling Stone about how “Princess of China” came about (FF to 3:08).

And here’s another track from Mylo Xyloto, due out next week.

Lead singer Chris Martin says that Coldplay’s fifth studio album will be released this fall and the title will begin with an “M.” That narrows it down.

So I was watching an episode of “Maestro Knows” the other day that featured Mr. Mike Posner. Maestro followed the artist around for a day, and the segment ended with the two in Mike’s home studio. Posner was working on a cover of Coldplay’s “The Scientist.”

I immediately reached out to Mike’s manager to see what project the song was for. Apparently Posner is not only working on a new album, but also a new mixtape. Those familiar with the Duke graduate before “Cooler Than Me” hit it big know that Posner released two free mixtapes before dropping 31 Minutes to Takeoff. This Coldplay cover will be on that compilation.

This is the band’s first original holiday song – with proceeds from sales of the track going to a U.K. charity that assists with the homeless.

Yet another artist comes forth to claim that Coldplay copied a melody for the song, “Viva La Vida.” Hear both tracks in this clip and judge for yourself…

From Reuters:

Singer-songwriter Cat Stevens agreed on Monday that the Coldplay song, “Viva La Vida,” sounds like one of his 1973 songs, but he stopped short of saying he would sue for plagiarism.

“My son brought it to my attention and said: ‘Doesn’t that sound like ‘Foreigner Suite?'” the musician, now known as Yusuf Islam, told Reuters.

“The song definitely sounds like it,” he said of his song. “It has such logical chords and the melody has to be what it is…”

Can’t deny her artistry… and I like what GaGa did with this…
