The nominations for the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards are in. Rihanna and Drake lead the pack with five nods a piece. The show will take place this year on a Thursday night, in a bigger venue from last year – LA’s Staples Center.

Ology.com Senior Editor Terron Moore wasn’t suprised with the nominations, and found the show’s movement from a Sunday to Thursday curious. One Direction and Alicia Keys were announced as performers for the ceremony, set for September 6 at 8 PM EST.

E! News reports that this will be Jennifer Lopez’s last season as a judge on “American Idol.” Apparently her co-headlining tour with Enrique Iglesias will be overseas when “Idol” is taping auditions for next season.

Ology.com Senior Editor Terron Moore thinks that with a long career ahead of her, the timing is right for JLO to pursue other ventures.

Chris Brown has had quite the week. Amid a flurry of controversy and opinions, the R&B singer returned to The Grammy Awards last Sunday, performing twice and winning once for “Best R&B Album.” After some celebrities and certain members of the media spoke out against Brown’s involvement with the awards show, the crooner lashed back in a series of Twitter updates. Those messages were later deleted from Brown’s account. This week, the performer also released his new music video for “Turn Up The Music.”

Ology.com Senior Editor Terron Moore simply believes Brown needs to learn how to act in the public eye. Moore pointed to John Mayer as an example of what to do so that you can repair your image and not cause futher damage after an incident.

Katy Perry announced on her Twitter account that she would not be attending this year’s People’s Choice Awards, set to air live on CBS Wednesday. Ology.com Senior Editor Terron Moore didn’t think it was a big deal – but thought it would be a bigger story if either Perry was originally scheduled to perform or the award show was more significant, such as The Grammy’s.
